BePublished provides free access to classic literature. All book content on this platform is in the United States public domain and free of copyright restrictions.

Book Content

Our catalog of 101+ books contains texts originally published before 1928 whose copyrights have expired under US law. We source texts from:

• Project Gutenberg (gutenberg.org) — A volunteer effort to digitize public domain books. We use their texts with all Project Gutenberg branding removed, as permitted by their usage policy.
• Standard Ebooks (standardebooks.org) — Professionally formatted editions of public domain works, released into the public domain. See their public domain statement.

We do not use copyrighted translations, introductions, annotations, or editorial content from any source.

AI-Generated Audio

Audio versions of books are generated using the Kokoro text-to-speech model, running on users' own devices. The generated audio is original work created by the AI model and is not sourced from existing audiobook recordings. Audio is crowdsourced: when a user generates audio for a chapter, it becomes available for all users.

AI Voice Model

The Kokoro TTS model is from Hugging Face, released under the Apache 2.0 license by the Kokoro team.

Open Source

BePublished uses open-source technologies including Firebase, React, ONNX Runtime, and MisakiSwift. We are grateful to the open-source community.
